We all get a little busier this time of year as we prepare for the upcoming holiday season.
Amazon is no different as they, too, are getting busier preparing for their seasonal shopping surge.
To meet the need of the upcoming shopping frenzy, Amazon will be nearly doubling its work force within its fulfillment, sorting and customer service departments. Amazon plans on hiring 120,000 U.S. workers for this holiday season. These jobs will spread out over more than 75 fulfillment centers across 33 states, adding to the 120,000 existing full time employees. Amazon.com is one of the largest online retail websites in the world. Amazon was started by Jeff Bezos in 1994 with a total investment of $140,000. During the first months of business, Bezos fulfilled orders to all 50 states and 48 countries. Books were the only product they had available. Today, Amazon is the leading e-retailer in the United States with close to 136 billion U.S. dollars in net sales (that’s A LOT) and as of 2015 sell over 385 million different products.
